DOGMA – Moving from Instructor-Centered to Student-Focused Learning
June 16 @ 09:00 - 10:30Free
Sitting in a classroom with projected images on a screen and the sage-on-the-stage thinking that he or she is filling an empty vessel with knowledge is how many of us feel in the current educational paradigm. Why do we settle for this, and worse, why is it that many of us have become that sage who we so despise? DOGMA. We feel that the only way students can learn didactic information is through a lecture. Where did this come from, why do we think that, and is there a better way that moves us from an instructor-centered classroom to a student-focused environment? Join us as we explore this DOGMA and try to figure out what we can do to change it.
