Pet First Aid and CPR
June 18 @ 08:00 - 12:00
FreePresented by: Mark Driscoll; Rescue Encore, LLC
This is a hybrid course that offers a blended curriculum of Pet CPR & First Aid and Wag’N’s pet oxygen mask training. Because first responders are already trained in bleeding and wound management, we will cover the topic as a refresher. The time saved by reviewing the material rather than teaching it for the first time will allow us to supplement Pet CPR & First Aid with Wag’N’s Pet Oxygen Mask Training presentation.
More and more fire departments are carrying pet oxygen masks on their apparatus these days, making it crucial for first responders to understand how to appropriately size an oxygen mask for fit to the animal as well as what flow rates are required for different animals. Upon completing this class, first responders will feel comfortable performing CPR, applying an oxygen mask, and performing rescue breathing for both cats and dogs.
Training includes a step-by-step format for CPR, heat and cold injuries, choking, snake bites, shock, bleeding control and more.
Class Type: Lecture, Demonstration, Hands-On Skills
Class Length: 4 hours
Cost: Training and certification are provided to all Maryland first responders for free.
