Cancer Reduction – A No-nonsense Approach

This course will dive into firefighter cancer statistics and causes and will bring achievable, practical applications to the attendee, that will go a long way in the reduction of those statistics. While the course will have a slide-show presentation, it is meant to be very interactive and engaging. Students should expect to gain knowledge of the causes of cancer in the modern-day firefighter, but also real-life techniques that will drastically reduce the likelihood of developing this awful disease.

Topics included are types of cancer, rates of cancer, exposure facts, SOG updates and recommendations, post-fire decontamination, the need for a 2nd set of PPE, physicals, blood screening, and a host of other topics. This course should be expected to last two hours and can be presented on more than one occasion if there is a need for it.
