This classes focus on firefighter safety and rehab, with an emphasis on carbon monoxide (CO). Additionally, departments are using the technology more and more to determine CO poisoning/exposure on EMS calls. Classes typically run 90 minutes to 2 hours and are a combination of discussion and hands-on with the monitoring devices. The course overview is: Pulse oximetry, hazards of CO, CO monitoring of both EMS patients and firefighters during rehab multi-casualty incidents involving carbon monoxide, perfusion Index, signs of Methemoglobinemia (SpMet), establishing baselines and defining abnormal readings, overall firefighter safety, NFPA 1584 (9 steps of firefighter rehab), and Masimo technology embedded in LifePak, Zoll and Philips monitors (if applicable)
