Affordable College for Volunteers
June 19, 2022 @ 13:00 - 15:00
FreePresented by: Mark Driscoll; Rescue Encore, LLC
Room 205
It’s no secret that recruitment and retention efforts throughout the volunteer fire service struggle to maintain adequate staffing levels throughout the nation. By combining a new way of approaching recruitment and retention with educational programs that are readily available to all, the volunteer fire service can take advantage of fire service training courses, free online college courses, and grant-funded College Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams to offer benefits to its members that rival the Montgomery GI Bill.
The Affordable College presentation will explain college degree requirements, outline ways to convert fire service training into college credits, highlight some of the leading programs to complete general education requirements for free, and discuss how to build a volunteer network that fosters educational advancement for both your riding and administrative members. The best part is that these benefits are available to all, whether you are a seasoned professional or a high school cadet looking to prepare for life after graduation.
Presentation will cover:
- Understanding College Degree Requirements
- Low Cost & Quick Turnaround Options
- Helpful Resources
- Open Discussion – Q & A
