Insurance 101 for Fire and EMS Leaders

Fire and EMS agencies have unique challenges when it comes to insurance. As leaders in these organizations, it is important to understand what you are paying for, and what you should expect from your insurance partners. Not every policy is the same, and the time to discover what is and is not covered is not after the claim occurs. In this session we will look at insurance from the 30,000-foot view and help prepare you to ask the right questions when it is time to bind or renew coverage and explore the rapidly changing dynamic of pricing and availability. Many fire and EMS agencies are finding themselves without many, if any, options due to poor track records and previous losses. We will discuss ways that your insurance partners can help to keep your agencies options open and healthy and discuss ways to help educate your personnel on why now more than ever we all need to focus on risk reduction. We will also look at some areas where our current cultures can be modified to better our safety footprint while helping your insurance policies bottom line. There is far more to insurance than the dollars and cents of the policy. We look forward to helping you and your agency prepare to get the best value for your insurance investment.
